Gentlemen…If You Take Viagra, You Also Need to Practice Safe Sex
A doctor friend of mine believes it never is too soon to start talking about sex and safe sex. Her doctor husband agrees.
She said she found herself one night saying at dinner, “…and that’s why you should always wear a condom.”
Her daughter said, “Mom! I’m only 10 years old!”
“It’s never too soon to discuss this,” she said.
Apparently, it never is too late, either.
Men have been using Viagra and Cialis for erectile dysfunction (FD) for years. A new study in the Archives of Internal Medicine shows that these men need to practice safe sex, too. They have markedly higher rates of sexually-transmitted diseases, the research shows.
It does not appear that the drug itself is the issue but the behavior the drug makes possible. Men who seek adventures made possible by the blue pill need to limit their risks with condoms.
If you forget why it is important, at least one 10-year-old can clue you in.
“A major retrospective study showed that men prescribed erectile dysfunction (ED) drugs such as sildenafil (Viagra) also had markedly higher rates of sexually transmitted diseases — though the association could have more to do with behavior than ED drug use.”
