More Health Care Workers Got Seasonal Flu Shot This Year

Cheree Cleghorn | April 8, 2010

When it comes to flu shots, the health care profession practices the “do as we say, not as we do” rule.

Every year no more than half get the flu shot.

This year, 62% did.

The New York Times

Flu shots are recommended for all health care providers, but fewer than half get vaccinated in a typical flu season. This season was different: by mid-January, 62 percent of health care workers had received a seasonal flu shot, though only 37 percent had been vaccinated against the H1N1 swine flu, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are reporting.”
