Researchers Find Possible Link Between Genes Types and Diet Success
Before you get excited about this, the sample size was very, very small—101 women—and limited to Caucasian women.
The study, conducted at Stanford University, did not identify which genes might be involved, either.
However, other studies have suggested that there may be some connection of this kind.
If future studies confirm this finding and advance scientific understanding of how genes and diets are linked, this could be very useful in combating obesity among those who have tried many diets with little or no success.
Stay tuned.
“A simple DNA test may predict whether someone is more likely to lose weight on a low fat or a low carbohydrate diet, say US researchers.
“The results from the small preliminary study of 101 women showed those on the best diet for their genes lost two to three times more weight than the rest.
“The results are being presented at an American Heart Association conference.
“Experts said the findings tied in with previous studies, but further work should be carried out.”
