For Parents: Start Recording Your Child’s Medical History Now
Cheree Cleghorn | November 10, 2009

Via the HealthDay column at U.S. News & World Report, the Nemours Foundation recommends that parents can save precious moments during a child’s health crisis by keeping an ongoing record of the child’s medical history.

According to Nemours, the record should contain:

  • Any allergies your child has to foods, medications, insect bites or substances.
  • All medications (both over-the-counter and prescription) that your child takes.
  • Any previous health conditions or illnesses, such as asthma or diabetes.
  • Information about any hospital stays, prior surgeries or past procedures.
  • A record of your child’s immunizations.
  • Your child’s current height and weight.

Florida-based Nemours Foundation publishes the website, KidsHealth.org.
